{"id":41,"date":"2016-09-22T16:20:09","date_gmt":"2016-09-22T23:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unioncenterforhealing.com\/latest-news\/?p=41"},"modified":"2016-09-22T16:20:09","modified_gmt":"2016-09-22T23:20:09","slug":"prescriptions-referrals-required-for-all-insurance-billed-massage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unioncenterforhealing.com\/latest-news\/prescriptions-referrals-required-for-all-insurance-billed-massage\/","title":{"rendered":"Prescriptions\/Referrals Required for all Insurance-Billed Massage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New Massage Policy &#8212; Effective 9\/12\/2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We now require all insurance-billed visits for massage to have a current prescription or referral even if your plan states that you do not need one.<\/strong> Most plans require a prescription or referral so this change will only effect those whose insurance states that a prescription or referral is not needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why the Change?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are updating our policy at this time because massage therapists are not allowed to diagnose a medical condition and a medical diagnosis is required to submit an\u00a0insurance claim.<\/p>\n<p>If you do not have a prescription or referral on file, you may obtain one from your MD, ND, or Chiropractor prior to your next visit.<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have a prescription or referral at the time of your next visit, we can bill you for the massage\u00a0while you obtain the prescription or referral.
